Arturia Pure SUB is a dedicated bass design synthesizer built for creating deep, punchy, and characterful low-end sounds. The instrument separates bass creation into Sub, Harmonics, and Texture stages, allowing each part of the sound to be shaped independently before further processing.

Pure SUB is suited to a wide range of bass-focused production styles, including sub bass, 808s, deep bass, wobble bass, Reese bass, hard bass, and club-oriented sounds.

Sub, Harmonics & Texture

The dedicated Sub section provides independent control over the fundamental, including level, phase, octave, and pitch-related modulation. Its Sub Regen feature can restore a clean fundamental after processing.

The Harmonics section provides Pressure and Reese engines for creating everything from focused bass tones to wider, denser sounds. A waveform editor and dedicated pitch envelope provide additional sound-shaping control.

The Texture section adds grit, movement, and detail through Noise and Corroder modes. It supports techniques including Ring Modulation, Amplitude Modulation, and Distortion, with Noise, Sine, Saw, and Square sources available in Corroder.

Filters and Sound Processing

Pure SUB includes more than 40 filter modes for shaping the tonal character of the bass. Sub, Harmonics, and Texture can be routed independently, making it possible to process individual layers without affecting the rest of the sound.

The integrated Sub Processor provides 33 modes for distortion, texture, and tonal reshaping. For additional processing, the FX Rack offers 18 effects across 12 slots, with support for saving effect-chain presets.

Maximiser and Mixing Tools

Pure SUB also includes processing designed to refine and strengthen the finished bass sound. EQ, compression, and multiband processing can be used within the FX Rack, while the Maximiser provides Soft and Hard modes for different approaches to loudness, pumping, and saturation.

Modulation

For dynamic bass sounds, Pure SUB provides three envelopes, including a dedicated Pitch Envelope. Six flexible modulation slots can use Function, Random, Envelope, Step Sequencer, or Voice Modulator sources.

The instrument also provides four assignable macros, keyboard modulation, Modulation Sidechain, and MPE support including Slide. These features allow bass patches to evolve through pitch movement, rhythmic modulation, wobbles, and changing textures.

Presets and Compatibility

Pure SUB includes a library of 300 presets and supports NKS controllers and MTS-ESP microtuning.

On Windows, Arturia specifies support for Windows 10 or later, 64-bit, with 4 GB of RAM, a 4-core 3.4 GHz CPU with 4.0 GHz Turbo Boost, 3 GB of available hard-disk space, and an OpenGL 2.0-compatible GPU. ARM processors are not supported on Windows. The software works in Standalone mode and as VST, AAX, and NKS formats, with 64-bit DAWs required.

Arturia also states that its products are compatible with Windows 11 on Intel- and AMD-based systems, while Windows ARM/Snapdragon architectures are not currently validated or supported.
