Arturia Pure SUB is a focused bass design synthesizer built specifically for creating powerful low-end sounds. Instead of treating bass as a single oscillator and effects chain, Pure SUB separates the sound into Sub, Harmonics, and Texture layers, giving you independent control over the fundamental, tonal character, and additional movement or grit.

Sub, Harmonics & Texture

The dedicated Sub section lets you shape the fundamental independently, including its level, phase, octave, and modulation. The Sub Regen feature can restore a clean fundamental after processing to help maintain a stable low end.

The Harmonics section offers Pressure and Reese engines. Pressure provides lower-density harmonic tones with a waveform editor, while Reese is designed for wider, higher-density unison sounds. Pitch envelopes and key-tracked EQ provide additional control over attacks and tonal consistency.

For additional character, the Texture engine provides Noise and Corroder modes. It can combine samples with the fundamental through Ring Modulation, Amplitude Modulation, or distortion, while Corroder sources include Noise, Sine, Saw, Square, and frequency-modulated sounds.

Filters & Bass Processing

Pure SUB includes more than 40 filter modes, ranging from clean filtering to aggressive spectral shaping. Sub, Harmonics, and Texture can be routed independently, allowing you to process individual layers without affecting the others.

The integrated Sub Processor provides 33 modes for distortion, texture, and tonal reshaping. Users can also build custom processing chains using a 12-slot FX Rack containing 18 effects. The built-in Maximiser provides Soft and Hard modes for finishing the bass with additional loudness, pumping, or grit.

Modulation

For evolving bass sounds, Pure SUB provides three envelopes, including a dedicated Pitch Envelope for punchy attacks and 808-style pitch movement. Six flexible modulation slots can use sources such as Function, Random, Envelope, Step Sequencer, and Voice Modulator.

The instrument also includes four assignable macros, keyboard expression controls, Modulation Sidechain, and MPE support with Slide.

Presets & Workflow

Pure SUB comes with an extensive library of 300 presets covering bass styles such as sub bass, 808, deep bass, wobble, hard bass, Reese, club, and donk sounds. It also includes a preset browser, resizable interface, integrated tutorials, NKS compatibility, and support for MTS-ESP microtuning.
